I usually travel to Austria by car. The distance is easy to drive and flying always requires more preparation anyway. So if I have the choice, I choose the car. Also because then I can take with me everything I need for Sophie; so this gives less stress.
As mentioned, we travel by car. This means convenience for me. I can bring everything I need for Sophie and this obviously gives much less stress. Along the way, we can schedule plenty of stops to let Sophie out. I find this way of traveling the most comfortable.
We are staying at a hotel. I've been in touch beforehand about Sophie. We are welcome. However, we are placed in a separate room so that other guests cannot be bothered by Sophie. I have some difficulty with this, because it still feels like we are being treated differently. But experience has shown that it was more pleasant to be in a separate room because it was a lot quieter. So in retrospect, this was a great solution.
In the village and stores, we can go in anywhere without any problems. Occasionally people ask if Sophie is an assistance dog, despite wearing her cover. But as soon as I confirm this, there is no problem.
In the ski elevators and on the slopes was no problem either.
